The Bridge on the River Clyde

The Bridge on the River Clyde, starring William Holden, Jack Hawkins, and Alec Guinness.
Colonel Bogey March

To sleep, perchance to dream ..." And what dream it has been, the same one twice in as many weeks: I visit a public convenience where the toilets are blocked and the floor is awash with faeces floating in it. Should I consult Freud's "The Interpretation of Dreams" or take it at faeces value?

Reality is so much better: a beautiful sunny morning, and we walked across the bridge on the River Clyde to visit the Nelligen Market in the Nelligen Hall, and followed it up with an 'oil and grease change' at the River Cafe under the ex-mechanic Terry's capable new management.

On the way home we detoured via the old Nelligen Watchhouse which has been on sale for the past three or four months - see here. It's empty now as the owners have already moved away to Tuross Head. They must have had some powerful reasons to turn their backs on a view like that!

It's another long weekend with Monday being 'Canberra Day' in this our nation's capital which makes it an official day not to turn up for work, and the river is already full with floating public (self-)servants (is that where those dreams came from?)

A good time to keep the gates firmly shut even though later in the afternoon we have some local people over to stare at their phones. Perhaps you want to come by and join them?
